One small piece of Baltic Amber with Insect Inclusion, these are genuine fossils and should not be confused with larger replicas. Small sized Amber specimen, approximately half an inch in size. Baltic Amber is considered to be a Gemstone. When polished, Baltic Amber glows with a translucent warmth and golden honey-like color. However, it is not actually a stone. Baltic Amber is the hardened sap of certain types of ancient trees that have become fossilized over millennia. These intriguing Baltic Amber gems formed more than 45 million years ago. The insects inside are approximately the same age, having been captured while the amber was still a sticky tree sap. Baltic Amber is Fossilized Resin, originally produced by pine trees which grew in Northern Europe, present day Scandinavia and along the shores of the Baltic Sea. The chemical structure of amber makes it dense, hard, resistant to external factors and makes the preservation of plant and animal inclusions possible.
