The AR9220 integrates multi- protocol MAC, baseband processor, analog- to- digital converter and digital- to- analog converter ( ADC/ DAC ), 2x2 MIMO radio transceiver and PCI interface in a complete CMOS device, which is suitable for low- power and small- size applications. AR9220 supports two simultaneous transmission streams, and uses two integrated transmit chains and receive chains to achieve high throughput and range performance. AR9220 realizes half-duplex OFDM, CCK and DSSS baseband processing, and supports 20MHz channel operation up to 130 Mbps and 40mhz channel operation up to 300mbps, as well as IEEE802.11a/b/g data rate. The AR9220 MAC supports 802. 11 wireless MAC protocol, 802. 11i security, reception and transmission filtering, error recovery and quality of service ( QoS ).
